Resolute members attend 2015 Open Day

On what should have been a summer's day on the 17th July we held our Open Day at Culmaily Farm, Golspie with determined members and friend travelling through some awful weather to support this event. We were all rewarded with the weather clearing to show us what a Culmaily had to offer.

The day started off with everyone booted and wrapped for the weather with a welcome of a cuppa and cake before the official opening followed by stockjudging. Then the highlight of the farm tour headed off to enjoy the 100 breeding cows and follower consisting of 60 pure Luings, 35 Sim-Luings and Simmental crosses which are being phased out and 450 North Country Cheviots ewes with 180 acres of arable. Culmaily had just as fascinating a history which was also shared with visitors. On returning to the steading a selection of Luing steaks, sausage and burger where ready for the hungry tourers.

Lots of socialising was had with members and visitors being generous with a collection of over £2,000 being raised for Highland Hospice and MacMillan Nurses.
